My Maskne Experience
I first experienced Maskne a few months ago when my skin went from being completely clear to breaking out in clusters on my cheeks. I realized the acne was concentrated in areas under my cloth mask. The bacteria from the pimples was spreading onto my protective face mask and then rubbing on my cheeks, causing a Maskne cycle. In my trial & error, I learned a few tips that helped me.
I started washing my cloth mask every day. Then, I stopped wearing makeup for a few weeks to give my skin time to heal. I used AAVRANI’s tea-tree-infused serum, which removes toxins and restores the skin’s natural barrier, as the only product before I put on my cloth mask. On hot days, I used tissue under my cloth mask to absorb the excess moisture.
I also started a weekly ritual to use the AAVRANI turmeric clay mask up to 3 times a week. On clusters or spots where it’s terrible, I will use the clay mask as a spot treatment every night. When the redness and swelling bother me, I would take some ice, wrap it in a paper towel, and dab it on the breakout to alleviate the inflammation.
After 2-3 weeks, my skin started to show signs of clearing up. I stayed patient, and after a month, my skin was back to normal.
I hope this helps anyone out there who is going through the same struggle with Maskne.
