How It All Started

Founder Rooshy Roy sent me the AAVRANI skin care collection nearly two years ago, and I absolutely fell in love with the products and her story.

Rooshy brought me in on her vision for a hair care line and before I knew it, we were collaborating on formulas, textures, and packaging for what will soon be the AAVRANI hair care collection.

If you know me, you know my hair has always been an important part of my life and my culture. I am so proud of what we are creating together, and I can’t wait for you to experience it for yourself starting Spring 2024.

Get to know a little bit more about me...

A: When it comes to skin care, convenience is key for me, so I like to keep it pretty simple. My golden rule is to never sleep with my makeup on, no matter how tired I am. Also, I love doing a face mask 1-2 times a week, my favorite is the Glow Activating Exfoliator! It reminds me of middle school when my mom would force me to put turmeric on my face (before turmeric masks were cool & trendy)

A: My biggest skin care struggle is my dry skin. I like to use products that will hydrate my skin but not leave me looking oily, which is why I use multiple products (the AAVRANI Hydra-Cream and another moisturizer from my dermatologist).

A: I will not be putting blood on my face anytime soon. Thank you.

A: My hair is my most prized possession, so I really care about the products I use. My current hair care routine is all unmarked bottles because I’m constantly testing new samples for our AAVRANI hair launch. But, I keep it pretty simple – I wash my hair 1-2x a week, oil my hair at least once a week, and I use scalp treatments to help with irritation/dryness 2-3x a week.

A: If I’m having a lazy day… I’m not even styling my hair. My realistic lazy-day hairstyle is just to let my hair down and wear a baseball cap to keep it in place.

A: HAIR OILING! Okay, it’s not unconventional to me or other South Asians, but most people don’t understand the power of hair oiling. Once a week helps with growth, hydration, breakage… What more could you ask for?

A: I try my best to have some sort of morning routine that involves meditation and stretching. My ideal morning routine is 1.5 hours but let’s be real, sometimes I have 10 minutes before an early call time. I still try finding the time to stretch and meditate (even if in the backseat of a car!)

A: I’m so lucky that I enjoy what I do for a living — creating is so much fun for me! But outside of work, I love reading a good book. Reading allows me to relax my mind and escape into an alternate universe for a bit.

A: DRINK MORE WATER! And stop sleeping with makeup on, you’ll regret it in your 30’s.
